The Scriptease Play Reading Series presented by Prairie Meadows is central to Iowa Stage's mission by allowing our Resident Artist Company to partner with talent from across the community to present new and cutting-edge work to the general public.

Scriptease:

• is FREE to the public and held in a central location.

• features Iowa-based playwrights whenever possible.

• unites Des Moines’ theatre community (both artists and patrons!) in an intimate, informal, and fun environment.

• serves as a testing ground for directors and works under consideration for our mainstage season.

• provides opportunities for local talent in and outside of our Resident Artist Company.

• is a 10+ year long tradition, originating with one of Iowa Stage’s predecessor companies.

We envision Scriptease as an accessible monthly celebration of theatre and a development pipeline to paid opportunities with Iowa Stage. We encourage performers who cannot commit to a full production to become involved with Scriptease.
