Message To ISTC Patrons Regarding "The Cake", COVID-19

For us at Iowa Stage Theatre Company, nothing is more important than the safety of our ISTC artists and audiences. Therefore, we are postponing our production of The Cake and will have further information on dates and times as we have them. The Scriptease reading of Mahala Island will also be rescheduled.

Individuals holding tickets to affected performances should maintain their current tickets. DMPA’s Ticket Office will be in touch with Ticket Holders (who purchased directly from DMPA) soon with further details.

Live theater can create life-changing experiences, in the most trying of times. And as you know, tickets are what we sell. ISTC is committed to paying our artists for their work, growing the creative economy, and investing in high-caliber productions that inspire, enlighten and entertain. Without those revenues, we cannot continue to do this work. If you have the ability to consider a donation at this time, we greatly appreciate it. You can visit https://www.iowastage.org/donate for more information.

We are fortunate to have a partner in Des Moines Performing Arts that is recognized as a leader in the field of audience safety. Our policy at ISTC is to align with them, as other organizations in Des Moines do. DMPA’s statement will be updated as circumstances warrant, and may be found here:

DMPA’s Guest Services team is taking extra precautions when preparing for events including the placement of extra hand sanitizing stations. We encourage our audiences to use preventive hygiene practices to limit the spread of respiratory diseases including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Thank you for all you do for the arts in our community, and we look forward to resuming our public work as and when appropriate.
